Sam Houston St. defeats Abilene Christian 90-85 in 2OT

ABILENE, Texas -- Marcus Harris scored 10 of his 23 points in the second extra period as Sam Houston State held on to beat Abilene Christian 90-85 in double overtime on Saturday to remain perfect in the Southland Conference.

Harris, who hit his first 3-pointer of the game in the first overtime, nailed his third trey of the night to put the Bearkats ahead 83-79 with 1:48 remaining in the second extra period. Cameron Delaney, who finished with 19 points, made four free throws in the final 15 seconds to seal SHSU's 12th straight win.

Harris, who averages 22 percent from beyond the arc, was 3-3 in overtime. He made 9 of 9 field-goal attempts for the game.

Kai Mitchell added 21 points for the Bearkats. (16-8, 11-0). Albert Almanza added 10 points.

Jaylen Franklin had 20 points and six rebounds for the Wildcats (19-5, 8-3). Jalone Friday added 16 points. Jaren Lewis had 16 points.

The Bearkats improve to 2-0 against the Wildcats for the season. Sam Houston State defeated Abilene Christian 71-68 on Jan. 5. Sam Houston State plays Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on the road on Wednesday. Abilene Christian faces Nicholls State on the road on Wednesday.
