Charleston Southern tops Gardner-Webb 92-83 in double OT

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. -- Phlandrous Fleming Jr. scored 31 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to help Charleston Southern hold off Gardner-Webb 92-83 in double overtime on Saturday.

Fleming made 11 of 24 shots from the floor, but just 1 of 8 from behind the 3-point line, for the Buccaneers (11-9, 5-3 Big South Conference). Fleming notched his seventh double-double of the season, adding six blocked shots and four steals. He also had seven of Charleston Southern's 19 turnovers.

Fleming's layup with 18 seconds left in regulation play sent the game to overtime tied at 65. Perez's 3-pointer with 7 seconds left in the first overtime sent it to the second tied at 74. Buskey nailed a 3-pointer to open the second extra period and the Buccaneers never trailed again.

Duncan LeXander scored 15 on 5-of-6 shooting from distance for the Buccaneers, while Deontaye Buskey added 14 points, five rebounds and five assists. Freshman Travis Anderson scored 13 off the bench and Ty Jones scored 10 before fouling out.

Jose Perez topped the Runnin' Bulldogs (7-12, 3-4) with 21 points, but he made just 5 of 21 shots from the field. Jaheam Cornwall contributed 16 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Eric Jamison Jr. scored 14 on 7-of-10 shooting, while Nate Johnson had 11 points and eight rebounds.
