Kershaw, Bellinger lead Dodgers to 10-2 win over Padres
SAN DIEGO -- The game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres on Sunday was postponed in the first rainout at Petco Park since 2015.
The game was rescheduled as part of a day-night doubleheader on Sept. 2. The first game will start at 12:40 p.m. and the regularly scheduled game has been pushed back from 5:40 p.m. to 7:10 p.m.
It had rained overnight and the forecast was for prolonged showers and possible thunderstorms.
This was the first rainout at Petco since July 19, 2015, a span of 134 games. Prior to the 2015 rainout, there had been 820 games played at Petco Park since the previous rainout on April 4, 2006.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts didn't immediately indicate whether Brandon McCarthy, already pushed back one day, would start Monday night at home against Pittsburgh, or if the Dodgers would stick with Alex Wood.
McCarthy had been scheduled to start Saturday, but Roberts said he tweaked his non-throwing left shoulder in the weight room and was pushed back in favor of Clayton Kershaw, who beat the Padres 10-2.
Trevor Cahill, who had been scheduled to start Sunday, will start Monday night at home against Texas.
Also Sunday, the Padres placed catcher Hector Sanchez on the 10-day disabled list with a bruised right foot. Reliever Kevin Quackenbush was recalled from Triple-A El Paso.
