No-hit through 7, Red Sox rally to beat Yankees

Held hitless into the eighth inning by Domingo German and looking feeble, Alex Verdugo and the Red Sox suddenly erupted for five runs to shake Fenway Park and storm past the rival Yankees 5-4 on Sunday.

Domingo Germán was not going to go much longer than 90 pitches today. Aaron Boone said that he was already in the “danger zone,” since he was not completely stretched out. It was not a consideration to have him continue to pitch in the 8th inning after the no-hitter bid was over.

Aaron Boone on the Yankees 5-4 loss today after no-hitting the Red Sox going into the 8th inning and leading 4-0: "Really tough one, obviously. A tough one that we got to get past, leading into an off day, and a huge series coming up with Tampa. Another extremely tough loss.”

Marly Rivera ESPN Writer
