MIAMI (Ticker) -- The Miami Heat hope to win consecutive games in their new home for the first time tonight when they battle the Boston Celtics.
The Heat did come up with their best effort in the new building on Friday, a 101-79 pasting of Atlanta. But Miami followed that impressive game up with a disappointing 101-88 loss at Houston two nights later. Miami is 6-4 this month and owns a one-half game lead over the New York Knicks in the Atlantic Division. The Celtics had their four-game winning streak stopped on Saturday with a 110-96 loss at Charlotte. Vitaly Potapenko led Boston with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Paul Pierce, the second-leading scorer on the team at 19.5 points per game, suffered a hamstring injury in the first half of Saturday's loss and did not return. He is questionable for tonight's contest. These teams have split two games this season, each winning on its home floor. Boston claimed all three meetings from the Heat during last season's lockout-shortended campaign.
