INDIANAPOLIS (Ticker) -- The Indiana Pacers look to extend the second-longest home winning streak in franchise history when they host the Phoenix Suns.
Since recording a seven-game winning streak, the Pacers have lost six of their last 10 games. They finished a futile three-game road trip Monday with an 83-82 setback to the lowly Chicago Bulls. Indiana is in first place in the Central Division, three games ahead of the Charlotte Hornets, and is tied with the Miami Heat for first in the Eastern Conference. The Suns, who begin a five-game road trip tonight, have a three-game winning streak. They are coming off Saturday's 101-88 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers as Jason Kidd had 16 points and 12 assists. "We'd love to win all five but we got off on the right foot," Kidd said. "We're playing good right now, so hopefully we can improve our road record (6-10)." Penny Hardaway made a successful return with 12 points on Saturday. It was the first game since December 4 for Hardaway, who was sidelined with plantar fasciatis in his right foot. Phoenix has won back-to-back games on the road since a five-game losing streak. The Suns have won 10 in a row against Eastern Conference foes and 13 of 14. They are in seventh place in the Western Conference, one game ahead of Minnesota and 2 1/2 behind San Antonio and Seattle. The Suns will be without center Oliver Miller, who was suspended one game and fined $7,500 for deliberately hitting Andre Miller of the Cavaliers Saturday night. Tonight is the first meeting of the season between these two teams, who have split the last eight encounters.
