ATLANTA (Ticker) -- The two worst teams in the Central Division look to build on wins tonight as the Atlanta Hawks host the Chicago Bulls.
Saturday's win snapped a four-game slide for the Hawks, who improved to just 11-9 at home this season. Overall, the Hawks have just five victories in their last 21 contests and are 5 1/2 games ahead of Chicago in the battle to avoid the division cellar. Atlanta has scored 100 or more points only twice in the last seven games after achieving the mark in six of seven. The Hawks have won both meetings with the Bulls this season, and have won five of the last six in the series. Chicago rallied from a 14-point halftime deficit Monday for its third win in four games, 83-82 over the Indiana Pacers. Elton Brand came within one of a season high with 28 points and fellow rookie Ron Artest added 17 and seven assists for Chicago. "Elton's play defensively and Ron Artest's emergence as a defender have been real critical," Bulls coach Tim Floyd said. "Just having a few guys healthy and getting them back is important." The Bulls are 6-4 since Toni Kukoc returned to the lineup on January 5 and are one-half game ahead of Golden State in the race to avoid the NBA's worst record.
