D-Jax auctions cleats to aid Nipsey Hussle's kids

Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson is honoring his late friend Nipsey Hussle this season by wearing custom cleats that he will auction each week, with proceeds going to Hussle's children.

It took a while, but the Eagles offense showed just how explosive it can be now that DeSean Jackson is back in the fold. The 32-year-old Jackson brought the fireworks in his first game back in an Eagles uniform, scoring touchdowns of 53 and 51 yards and finishing with eight catches at 154 yards, as the Eagles overcame a 17-0 deficit to topple the Washington Redskins, 32-27. Carson Wentz and Jackson spent the summer building their rapport, and it showed. It might not look like this every game, but with an array of weapons at his disposal, including Zach Ertz, Miles Sanders and Alshon Jeffery, who had two TDs of his own Sunday, Wentz should be able to lead this offense right to the top of the league.

One of the Eagles' biggest issues in 2018 was starting slow (they ranked 31st in first-quarter points) and the opener vs. Washington showed no improvement. Carson Wentz and the starters got no work together in the preseason, and it showed, as Washington took a 20-7 lead into the locker room.

When in doubt, go deep to DeSean Jackson. With Eagles offense struggling early, Carson Wentz unloaded one and hit Jackson for a 51-yarder late in the second quarter to get Philly on the board.

Eagles inactives: QB Nate Sudfeld, DE Shareef Miller, LB Kamu Grugier-Hill, OL Nate Herbig, T Jordan Mailata, OL Matt Pryor, DE Daeshon Hall. Josh McCown will back up Carson Wentz. Sudfeld recovering from a broken wrist.

The Eagles and WR Alshon Jeffery agreed to a contract restructure. The move guarantees his 2020 salary while freeing up some cap space for the team.
