Thomas, Sun beat Mystics 88-64, remain undefeated
WASHINGTON -- Jasmine Thomas scored a season-high 25 points, hitting four 3-pointers, to help the Connecticut Sun beat the Washington Mystics 88-64 on Sunday and remain the lone undefeated team in the WNBA.
Connecticut (5-0) is off to its best start in franchise history. Alex Bentley added 15 points, Chiney Ogwumike had 11 points and nine rebounds and three blocks for the Sun.
Ariel Atkins led the Mystics (5-3) with 14 points. Washington has lost three of its last four games and was missing star Elena Delle Donne for the fourth straight game due to an illness.
Thomas scored four points during an 11-4 opening run and Connecticut never trailed. Myisha Hines-Allen's offensive rebound and putback pulled the Mystics within two late in the second quarter but they would get no closer. Thomas answered with a 3-pointer to sparks a 12-0 run that made it 49-35 at the break.
The Sun shot 47 percent from the field, hit 10 3-pointers and outrebounded Washington 45-31.
The Mystics made just 3 of 21 (15 percent) from 3-point range.
