Instead of the original two-year deal, the Blackwater Elite are now giving a three-year, maximum rookie contract for 2018 second overall rookie pick Bobby Ray Parks worth P10.4 million.
Team owner Dioceldo Sy bared that under the newly-adjusted monthly rookie contract, the 6-foot-4 Parks is set to receive P200,000 a month during his first year, P250,000 in his second year before getting the P420,000 in the final year.
Parks, currently playing for San Miguel-Alab Pilipinas in the 2019 Asean Basketball League, will more l sign the rookie max deal either on Wednesday or Thursday, according to Sy.
Sy is still working on Parks' availability when the PBA opens its 2019 season on January 13 at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan.
Meanwhile, fellow rookies Paul Desiderio and Abu Tratter will be signed to similar two-year deals.
Desiderio, selected fourth overall, and Tratter, drafted at seventh two Sundays ago in the Gatorade PBA Draft by NLEX, before being traded to Blackwater, will get P100,000 per month during their rookie year, before getting a rate of P150,000 a month on their second season.
Diego Dario, the Elite's 26th pick overall this year, will be signed to a one-year deal at P70,000 a month.
"I'm happy and confident with this young team. I believe these new guys can inject more life and quickness into the team," Sy told ESPN5 on the eve of Christmas.
"We still have enough veterans to guide our young players. The important thing is they will complement one another for the desired chemistry," added the Blackwater big boss.
The Elite agreed to acquire Desiderio, Tratter and a future second round pick in exchange for slotman John Paul Erram, whom they dealt to the Road Warriors. The trade has been pending the Technical Committee, though the deal is expected to be approved by Thursday when the PBA resumes office after the Christmas break.
Under the revised trade, TNT has figured in the equation as NLEX sent Mike Miranda to Blackwater with the Elite moving the 6-5 center to the KaTropa for a future second-round pick.
