TAB Betting Blog: Brisbane to continue its winning ways in Perth

Here are TAB.com.au's best betting options for the upcoming round of AFL.

Best bets

Head to head: Brisbane to win at $2.20

One victory is all Brisbane has outside of Queensland this year and that came against a struggling North Melbourne, but expect them to double up this weekend.

A victory on the road would not only boost top-eight prospects, but further extend the team's belief that they have what it takes to play in September.

The big question is how do they stop Dockers skipper Nat Fyfe?

It will have to be a joint effort between Dayne Zorko, second favourite in the Brownlow Medal race Lachie Neale and ruckman Stefan Martin.

The last time the two sides met, Brisbane dominated, running out 54-point winners.

Margin: St Kilda to win by 1-39 points at $2.05

Coming off consecutive losses, St Kilda, now 4-5, can place themselves in a great position to contend for finals with a strong performance this weekend.

Despite a patchy month, Carlton has been competitive in most games this year and a win for the Blues would restore a sense of belief in the team after a catastrophic three weeks.

The last time Carlton played the Saints they won comfortably. Expect Brendon Bolton's side to bounce back and at least keep this one close.

Value bets

Total points over/under: Gold Coast/Geelong over 154.5 points at $1.90

The Cats are cruising right now, sitting a game and percentage clear of the chasing pack. They have won five straight games and are undefeated away from home this year. Gold Coast and Geelong often have high scoring affairs, averaging a total of 178 points per game over their last five encounters, and expect the same again with weather looking sunny and perfect for the clash at Metricon Stadium.

Half/full double: Adelaide/Adelaide at $1.85

The Crows will be aiming to rebound strongly after last weekend's disappointing one-point loss to Brisbane at the Gabba. Adelaide will need to improve their forward pressure and lock the ball in their half if they're a chance. They can't afford to go long into their forward line and enable the Eagles to move the ball freely into the midfield.

Special: Marcus Bontempelli 25+ disposals/ 1+ goal

The Dogs are one of the few teams sitting a game outside of the top eight and with a road trip to face reigning premiers West Coast before the bye, taking care of business against the 17th placed Roos is essential. Bontempelli has been instrumental for the Bulldogs so far this season, averaging 27 disposals a game, he needs to be firing on all cylinders to ensure his side walks away with the four points.
