LSU landed the No. 7 class in the nation on signing day. Here's a look at each signing as the LOIs rolled into Baton Rouge.
11:50 a.m. CT -- DE Tashawn Bower
Somerville, N.J./Immaculata
A highly regarded defensive end who could fit right in with LSU. Made a signing-day decision after considering Auburn, Florida and Florida State, among others.
10:42 a.m. CT -- DT Maquedius Bain
Fort Lauderdale, Fla./University New School of Nova South
Part of a deep defensive tackle class, Bain has raw athleticism and size. During his prep career, he also showed a willingness as a team player, taking on the offensive line to fill a team need as a senior.
10:14 a.m. CT -- CB Rashard Robinson
Pompano Beach, Fla./Ely
At 6-foot-3, Robinson continues LSU’s trend of signing big corners who can matchup with the SEC’s bigger receivers. In that regard, he’ll remind LSU fans of the recently departed Tharold Simon. Barely over 160 pounds, Robinson will have to add weight.
9:22 a.m. CT -- DB Rickey Jefferson
Destrehan, La./Destrehan
The younger brother of former LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson, Rickey’s future role may either as a safety or a cornerback. LSU took his commitment as a corner, but a need at safety and Jefferson’s size (6-foot, 190 pounds) makes him a candidate.
9:17 a.m. CT -- CB Tre'Davious White
Shreveport, La./Green Oaks
The god brother of Dallas Cowboy Morris Claiborne, another Shreveport native, White has the potential to play with similar ability at cornerback. Fast and with the ability to change direction in a heartbeat, many think White will push for immediate, and significant, playing time.
9:04 a.m. CT -- DE Michael Patterson
Winnfield, La./Winnfield
Patterson is one of those players who commits early, then falls out of the limelight. But those in the know think he can make his mark in LSU’s talented defensive end class.
9:01 a.m. CT -- LB Kendell Beckwith
Jackson, La./East Feliciana
The ESPN 150 athlete figures to play outside linebacker for the Tigers. He gave LSU fans a reason to cheer at the Under Armor All-American game by picking LSU over Alabama.
8:57 a.m. CT -- CB Jeryl Brazil
Loranger, La./Loranger
Is there a faster football player in the country? Considering his 4.32 40-yard dash at The Opening and his nation’s best prep 55-meter time this season (6.28, at a recent meet at LSU), probably not. Brazil, an ESPN 150 pick appears headed for CB and may return kicks.
8:49 a.m. CT -- WR Kevin Spears
New Orleans/Holy Cross
He tried out for football as a high school junior and as a senior had a over 1,000 yards receiving playing in Louisiana’s highly competitive Class 4A. At 6-foot-3, the former basketball player gives LSU young size at receiver.
8:36 a.m. CT -- LB Melvin Jones
Lake Charles, La./Washington-Marion
A big-bodied linebacker, Jones has impressive straight-line speed for a player who easily carries 250 pounds or more. How he develops at his size will be fun to watch.
8:33 a.m. CT -- WR Quantavius Leslie
Hogansville, Ga./Hinds CC
Leslie was supposed to be at LSU already, but he did not graduate in time at his junior college. When he arrives, at 6-foot-4, he’ll give LSU the big receiver it currently lacks.
8:21 a.m. CT -- OG Josh Boutte
New Iberia, La./Westgate
The big-bodied guard gave LSU a minor scare when he visited Louisiana-Lafayette over the weekend. But safely in the class, Boutte is part of a deep offensive line class.
8:21 a.m. CT -- OL Andy Dodd
Lindale, Ga./Pepperell
The ESPN 300 lineman flipped from Alabama during the summer and has a chance to make an impact as either a future guard or center for the Tigers.
8:10 a.m. CT -- DT Greg Gilmore
Hope Mills, N.C./South View
LSU might need immediate help at defensive tackle and many see the big, strong Gilmore as the player most ready to step in. At 285 pounds and with some polish on his game, the ESPN 150 pick looks game ready.
8:07 a.m. CT -- TE DeSean Smith
Lake Charles, La./Barbe
The ESPN 150 tight end will give LSU its most dangerous pass catching threat at the position since Richard Dickson, if not longer. At 6-foot-5 and with soft hands and good speed, he has the ability to give LSU a true TE-WR hybrid.
7:32 a.m. CT -- DE Frank Herron
Memphis, Tenn./Central
Herron gave LSU a scare when he visited Texas over the weekend, but then on Tuesday matched his impressive skills with an impressively funny tweet: In purple and gold letters, it read: "Keep Calm, I’m going to LSU."
7:19 a.m. CT -- LB Duke Riley
River Ridge, La./John Curtis
The defensive leader of one of American’s top prep teams, Riley brings track athlete speed to the linebacker position and projects as an outside linebacker who will have the ability to cover passes like a safety.
7:19 a.m. CT -- DE Lewis Neal
Wilson, N.C./James B. Hunt
Not the tallest defensive end out there, but Neal plays with a high motor and athleticism. Had the distinction of being the only player to announce his pledge between innings at a baseball game.
7:19 a.m. CT -- OL K.J. Malone
Ruston, La./Cedar Creek
The son of Basketball Hall of Famer Karl Malone, K.J. quietly pledged to LSU early in the process, then slipped out of the limelight. But he brings the size and strength that made his dad an imposing NBA figure.
Early enrollees
TE Logan Stokes
Muscle Shoals, Ala./Northeast Mississippi CC
A former high school defensive lineman, Stokes has developed nicely as a tight end in junior college. He comes to LSU with tremendous size and the reputation for having good hands despite modest statistics at a pass-challenged juco. He’s already enrolled for the spring semester and should challenge for the starting tight end job left vacated by the graduation of Chase Clement.
Sacramento, Calif./College of San Mateo
A 2012 signee, Fanaika had to stay at his junior college in the fall semester to complete course work needed to graduate. A powerfully-built guard, he should contend for playing time and possibly start at one of the guard positions.
Pompano Beach, Fla./Hargrave Military Academy
The younger brother of Patrick Peterson, Johnson signed with LSU in 2012, but was an academic non-qualifier and attended Hargrave in the fall. He resigned and enrolled in the spring.
Marietta, Ga./Marietta
One of two ESPN 300 quarterbacks in the class, both already enrolled. Jennings and Hayden Rettig will provide each other with competition as the possible QB of the future.
Los Angeles/Cathedral
The other ESPN 300 QB in the class, Rettig bounced back from a knee injury for a big senior year. He comes to LSU with a reputation as being one of the best pure passers in the country.
OT Ethan Pocic
Lemont, Ill.
The ESPN 150 comes to LSU with tremendous length and good feet. As an early enrollee, he’ll get to immediately contend for playing time at tackle, where LSU lost three of the four players who started games last season.
WR John Diarse
Monroe, La./Neville
A high school quarterback, Diarse will move to wide receiver, where he showed tremendous potential during the summer camp and 7-on-7 circuit. He’ll have work to do on his technique and he enrolled early at LSU to get started on it.
Lincoln, Neb./Southwest
A Texan, LaCouture moved to Nebraska for his senior season. He didn’t stay in the Midwest long, opting to commit to LSU, then enroll in January.
