Floyd Mayweather is in talks with UFC president Dana White about a switch to the Octagon, according to commentator Joe Rogan.

Former five-division boxing champion Mayweather, 40, returned to retirement in August after defeating UFC superstar Conor McGregor to take his record to 50-0.

Mayweather has been teasing a potential switch to MMA and Rogan -- a close friend of UFC boss White -- claims that negotiations are ongoing between the two parties.

"Floyd talked about it," Rogan said on his podcast when asked about boxers who might change disciplines. "This is one thing I can tell you. Dana told me that Floyd wants to make a deal in the UFC, legitimately.

"I texted him, I go 'is Floyd really talking about fighting in MMA?'

"He goes 'Yeah, he's f------ crazy, I told him he'd get killed but he's still talking about it.'"

In addition to suggestions that he could make another comeback in the boxing ring -- which have been regularly played down -- Mayweather has claimed he could "make a billion dollars" by following in McGregor's footsteps and switching codes.
