British boxer Daniel Dubois has been forced to withdraw from Saturday's clash with Razvan Cojanu due to illness.
Dubois (9-0, 8 KOs) had been scheduled to fight on Dec.15 at the Brentwood Centre in a 10-round, heavyweight bout -- that was to be shown live on ESPN+ -- but came down with the flu during the week.
"In a sport like boxing, if you are less than 100 percent health-wise going into the fight, then the only sensible option is to withdraw and go again on another date," Dubois, 21, said in a statement released on Thursday.
"It is bitterly disappointing for me, all the same, because I was looking forward to reaching double figures in professional fights before Christmas.
"That will just have to wait now and I can only say I am sorry to Razvan and the people who were coming out to watch me on Saturday night."
Dubois' promoter, Frank Warren, confirmed that the rest of the card will go ahead as planned, which features Sunny Edwards and Junior Granados competing for the WBO Intercontinental Super Flyweight Championship.

"If Daniel has got the flu, there's no way I'm letting him fight," Warren added.
