Tide in mix for uncommitted stars

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- With 27 recruits already committed to the Crimson Tide, it appears this national signing day is over before it even begins. All that's left to do is defend the No. 1 class in the country.

But if you know coach Nick Saban, you know resting on a lead isn't his style. He and the rest of the Alabama coaching staff have pushed for the remaining uncommitted prospects and build for another title run in the fall.

Eddie Goldman
(Washington/Collegiate Academy)
According to ESPN's Jamie Newberg, Goldman has already made up his mind on a school. We just have to wait and listen. The suitors include Alabama, Auburn, Florida State and Miami. Word out of the Goldman camp continues to point to the Noles landing the coveted big man, but if the Tide is able to slip in on signing day and nab him, watch out. Goldman would be the feather in the cap of an already stellar signing class and could bolster the argument for this being the best recruiting class Saban has put together since coming to Tuscaloosa. The Washington, D.C., native is the No. 1 defensive tackle in the country and the 10th best prospect overall in the ESPNU 150. He would give the Tide three five-star recruits and 13 in the ESPNU 150 -- more than any other school in the country in both categories. Goldman is a freakish athlete with superior burst off the line and quickness in the trenches, carrying a 6-foot-4, 310-pound frame with relative ease. He has the physical tools to compete right away in the SEC.
