Riot announces League of Legends All-Star event details

Riot Games announced Sunday that its League of Legends All-Star event will take place Dec. 6-8 at the Esports Arena in Las Vegas.

Ticketing information for the event is not yet available, Riot said in a statement. However, there will be several new competitive play additions to the event, which was last played in Los Angeles at the North American League Championship Series Studio.

Fan votes will once again determine a portion of the event's invitees, with voting opening Oct. 17. There will be a total of 64 participants, including 32 pro players and 32 members of the League Partner Program. The attendees will participate in a number of different competition formats, including the pros' one-on-one tournament, a two-on-two charity event with pros and League Partner Program members, regional show matches, an East vs. West All-Star regional match and other "alternate game modes," Riot said in a statement.

The exhibition match format is a departure from past years, which have features tournament-style play between regions, including group stages and a knockout event. In 2017, the Chinese League of Legends Pro League won the event with a 3-2 victory against the Taiwan/Hong Kong/Macau regions' League Masters Series.
