UFC 273 best bets and expert picks: Will favorites Volkanovski, Yan and Chimaev come through?

ESPN iIlustration

Two title fights will take place on Saturday's UFC 273 card at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida (10 p.m. on ESPN+ PPV), but this is far more than a two-bout card in terms of fights to see.

The main event is a UFC featherweight title bout between current champion Alexander Volkanovski and ninth-ranked Chan Sung Jung. Volkanovski has a 20-fight winning streak in MMA competitions, while Sung Jung is just 4-3 in his past seven fights. The co-main event is a rematch for the UFC bantamweight title between Aljamain Sterling and Petr Yan. Sterling won the title at UFC 259 due to an intentional illegal knee from Yan in the fourth round, becoming the first fighter to win a UFC title by disqualification.

The third fight from the top is a highly anticipated UFC welterweight matchup between rising star Khamzat Chimaev and No. 3 ranked Gilbert Burns in what could amount to a No. 1 contender match for a future title shot. Chimaev is undefeated thus far in his first 10 MMA matches, including a 4-0 mark in the UFC.

The card also features a top-10 matchup between women's strawweights Mackenzie Dern and Tecia Torres -- a bout that on paper seems incredibly close. Dern has won five of her past six, while Torres has won her previous three contests.

Where is there betting value? Will the favorites coast? Veteran MMA coach Jim West of MMA Gold breaks down the matchups for Brett Okamoto from an inside-the-cage perspective, while experts Ian Parker and Reed Kuhn analyze the card from a betting viewpoint.
