New York Knicks center Mitchell Robinson will have surgery this week left ankle, the team said Monday.
Robinson suffered what the team called a stress fracture in Friday's 133-123 loss at Boston.
The operation will take place at New York's Hospital for Special Surgery and he will be reevaluated in eight to 10 weeks.
Backup center Jericho Sims replaced Robinson in the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Raptors -- a 136-130 win -- and had 2 points and 7 rebounds in 21 minutes.
Backup point guard Immanuel Quickley also missed Monday's game due to right knee inflammation.
Robinson, 25, is averaging 6.2 points on 59.2% shooting with a team-high 10.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 21 games (all starts) this season.
The 7-footer has career averages of 8.1 points and 8.0 rebounds in 310 games (196 starts) since New York drafted him in the second round in 2018.
