Randy Gregory, La'el Collins among big names available on Day 2 of draft

As the NFL draft heads into its second day, Nebraska linebacker Randy Gregory and LSU offensive lineman La'el Collins remain two of the biggest names left on draft boards.

Gregory saw his draft stock slide as the result of an underwhelming performance at the NFL scouting combine and questions about his size and off-field issues. He had 50 tackles and 7.0 sacks in his junior year with the Huskers.

Collins' case is a bit more unique.

Though not a suspect, Collins is connected to the shooting death of a pregnant woman in Louisiana.

Brittney Mills, 29, was believed to be a former girlfriend of Collins, and though she died in the shooting, her baby was delivered. Police are trying to determine if Collins is the father of the newborn and if he can provide any possible information on Mills' death.

He intends to return to Louisiana to answer police questioning.

Collins had hoped to drop out of the NFL draft and be entered into this summer's supplemental draft but had his request rejected by the NFL. He is thought to be the first player to try to pull out of the draft on the day of the event.

Perhaps the deepest position in terms of top-tier talent still on the board is wide receiver.

Devin Smith (Ohio State), Jaelen Strong (Arizona State) and Devin Funchess (Michigan) all remain available.

The second and third rounds of the NFL draft will be held Friday and will be televised on ESPN at 7 p.m. ET. The Cincinnati Bengals, Kansas City Chiefs, New England Patriots and New Orleans Saints each have three picks on Friday.
