Sturm's 5 TDs lead UT San Antonio in 51-17 rout of Southern
SAN ANTONIO -- Dalton Sturm threw for four touchdowns and ran for a fifth, all in the first half, as UT San Antonio dismantled Southern 51-17 in a nonconference game Saturday night.
Sturm put the Roadrunners on the board less than three minutes into the game, firing a 30-yard touchdown pass to Kerry Thomas Jr. Jalen Rhodes scored from 8-yards out and Tyrell Clay punched in from the 2 to give UT San Antonio a 21-0 lead after one quarter.
Sturm sandwiched a pair of touchdown passes to Shaq Williams, from 17- and 14-yards out, around his own 8-yard run for a score in the second quarter, then capped his first half with an 11-yard pass to Josh Stewart for a 48-0 lead.
Bryce Rivera took over at quarterback for UT San Antonio in the second half and his pass was picked off by Danny Johnson and returned 61 yards for Southern's first score.
