Tabary leads McNeese to 42-21 win over D-II Florida Tech
LAKE CHARLES, La. -- James Tabary threw for 249 yards and two touchdowns as McNeese jumped out to an early lead and then held on to beat Division II Florida Tech on Saturday night.
The Cowboys (1-1) went into the break leading 21-7. Florida Tech closed to within a touchdown when Mark Cato, who threw for 333 yards, hit Romell Guerrier on a 20-yard scoring strike.
McNeese's Justin Pratt, who finished with 85 yards, answered with a touchdown run from the four. The Panthers responded quickly with Antwuan Haynes scoring from 19 yards out to trail 28-21 with 2:09 left in the third.
McNeese controlled the final quarter as David Hamm scored from the six and Benjamin Jones broke for a 69-yard run for the final score.
Main concern for the Florida Tech team is whether they'll be able to return home as Hurricane Irma approaches the Florida coast.
