Harris, Wynn lead Furman to 49-13 romp over VMI
LEXINGTON, Va. -- Harris Roberts completed 13 of 17 passes for 261 yards and two touchdowns and Devin Wynn pitched in with 112 yards and three TDs on 15 carries to help Furman keep VMI winless in Southern Conference play with a 49-13 victory on Saturday.
This one was over early as the Paladins (5-4, 5-2) jumped out to a 21-0 lead and never looked back. Wynn opened the scoring for Furman with a 13-yard TD burst to cap a 10-play, 80-yard drive on its opening possession. Leading 14-0, the Paladins got the ball back when Jordan Willis forced a Quan Myers fumble that was recovered by Furm Aaquil Annoor at the VMI 33-yard line. One play later, Roberts hooked up with Jake Walker for a 33-yard TD strike.
The Keydets (1-9, 0-8) pulled within 21-7 on Reece Udinski's 60-yard scoring strike to Javeon Lara with 1:08 left in the first quarter, but Watkins had a 5-yard TD run and Roberts and Walker hooked up for a 69-yard scoring strike in the second quarter to make in 35-7 at halftime.
Udinski completed 21 of 33 passes for 224 yards for VMI, while Lara finished with seven catches for 120 yards and two TDs.
