Lauter throws two 2nd-half TD passes to Dunneman to lift Georgetown to a 20-17 win over Columbia

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- — Danny Lauter threw a pair of touchdown passes to Nicholas Dunneman, the second from 16 yards out with 1:10 left, to lift Georgetown to a 20-17 win over Columbia on Saturday.

The Lions (1-1) jumped to a 14-0 first-half lead on a pair of touchdown passes by Cole Freeman but managed only a Hugo Merry field goal the rest of the way.

Bryce Cox got the Hoyas on the board, capping an eight-play, 76-yard drive with a 4-yard run to cut the deficit to 14-7 at intermission.

Lauter hit Dunneman with a 32-yard pass with a second left in the third quarter but Patrick Ryan missed the extra point to leave Georgetown (3-2) behind by a point, 14-13, and Merry's field goal pushed the Columbia lead to 17-13 with 5:05 left in the fourth. Lauter led an eight-play, 73-yard drive capped by his second TD pass to Dunneman.

Lauter completed 25 of 33 for 292 yards. Jimmy Kibble caught 10 passes for 164 yards while Dunneman caught eight for 111.

Freeman was held to 15-of-30 passing for 211 yards and was picked off three times, twice in the second half. Edan Stagg caught three passes for 62 yards and a touchdown and Bryson Canty caught five for 61 and a score.
