Grambling beats D-II Clark Atlanta, 31-20 in Chicago Classic

CHICAGO -- Devante Kincade came off the Grambling bench to throw three touchdown passes as the Tigers beat Division II Clark Atlanta in the 20th annual Chicago Football Classic at Soldier Field on Saturday, a showcase for historically black colleges and universities as renowned for its Battle of the Bands as for its football.

After starter Geremy Hickbottom was injured in the first quarter, Kincade came on to complete 19 of 31 attempts for 230 yards and three scores.

Clark Atlanta, which won the classic a year ago, beating Central State 20-13 in a showdown between NCAA Division II schools, scored first after driving 88 yards in 13 plays. Carlos Saldana kicked a 29-yard field goal to put the Panthers up, 3-0.

Kincade answered with a 23-yard pass to Darrell Clark and followed that two minutes later with a 59-yard strike to Jordan Jones to make it 14-3.
