Prairie View's 24-point outburst dooms Texas Southern 44-23

HOUSTON -- Jalen Morton threw for 350 yards and two scores and Dawonya Tucker ran for 190 yards and three touchdowns to lead Prairie View past Texas Southern 44-23 on Saturday.

The Panthers now have beaten Texas Southern five consecutive years, and have taken 13 of the last 16 contests since 2004.

Tucker amassed his yards on just 11 carries for a 17.1 yards-per-carry average. Tony Mullins caught six passes from Morton for 141 yards and a score. Defensively, Tre'Shaud Smith accounted for 12 total tackles with eight coming solo.

DeAndre Johnson threw a 12-yard score to Tren'Davian Dixon with 13 seconds left in the first quarter to give Texas Southern its last lead of the game. Prairie View took control when Tucker scored on runs of 17 and 66 yards and Zach Elder added a 23-yard field goal before halftime to make it 23-13. After the break, Morton threw a 10-yard scored to Kalen Riles a little more than five minutes into the third.

The Tigers' Johnson threw for 259 yards, two touchdowns, an interception and was sacked three times.
