Clifford stunner sees off Robins
Substitute Conor Clifford's long range strike was enough to sink 10-man Cheltenham and earn Southend their second win in four days.Clifford beat Trevor Carson with a rasping drive from 25 yards which flew into the bottom-left corner and ensure that the Robins' blimp continued.Cheltenham had lost midfielder Jason Taylor to a straight red in the 37th minute for his reaction to a challenge from Clifford, who had only been on the pitch for two minutes. It was the first red card shown to a Robins player since October 2012 and Southend began to make their extra man count immediately after half time after an even opening period.Carson made a fine one-handed save to deny Myles Weston, who should have converted the rebound with the goal gaping, but he shot harmlessly wide and Kevan Hurst smashed an effort agains the bar in the 72nd minute. The closest Cheltenham came to ended their goal drought which now spans three matches was a low shot from Jordan Wynter in the 13th minute which Daniel Bentley saved well.
