Late show rescues Shrimps
Padraig Amond came off the bench to head a late equaliser as Morecambe rescued a 1-1 draw at Stevenage.Simon Walton's penalty just after the hour mark looked to have earned the Boro their sixth win in seven home games but the Shrimps, having created several chances, were worth their point.Morecambe created the better openings in a tight first half with Amond being put through by Paul Mullin only to be denied by a good block by Stevenage goalkeeper Chris Day.The Boro broke the deadlock when David McAllister was chopped down in the area by Morecambe captain Mark Hughes and Walton calmly slotted his penalty into the bottom corner.39-year-old Day was then Stevenage's hero again when he stood strong to deny Amond again after he had been put through by Jamie Devitt. But the Shrimps earned themselves a point with five minutes left when Amond was left unmarked in the middle to head Devitt's corner into the top corner
