Ill Ainsworth misses Wycombe draw

Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth remained in his sick bed as his table-topping side were held to a 1-1 draw with Accrington.Assistant Richard Dobson took charge of the Chairboys and saw them gain a share of the spoils which leaves them with a two-point advantage at the summit heading into Christmas.Dobson had watched his men race into a ninth-minute lead.Stanley appealed for offside as Paris-Cowan Hall got the ball but the flag stayed down and the midfielder curled home into the top corner of the net from the edge of the area for his fourth goal in as many games. The league leaders were in charge and Shay McCartan had to clear Aaron Pierre's header off the line while Matt McClure flicked a cross wide after a good run by Sam Wood.Whatever Stanley boss John Coleman said at half-time did the trick, though, as the Reds equalised four minutes after the restart.Kal Naismith's free-kick from the right-hand side was headed home by West Ham loanee Sean Maguire at the near post. And then it was the hosts' turn to dominate with Wycombe keeper Matt Ingram pushing out a Tom Aldred effort from a fierce Naismith free-kick and then tipping over John O'Sullivan's close-range header. At the other end, Cowan-Hall did come close to a second for the visitors but his low shot was tipped around the post by Luke Simpson as the game ended all-square.
