- Lewis Alessandra - 42'
Argyle up and running for 2015
Plymouth claimed their first League Two win of the year by beating Accrington 1-0 at Home Park.John Sheridan's promotion chasing side ended a seven-match streak without a win thanks to forward Lewis Alessandra's superb 42nd-minute solo winner.Alessandra cut in from the left and despite the acute angle, steered to ball home past bemused Stanley keeper Scott Davies. It was no more than the home side deserved for their first half dominance although just before the goal Stanley danger man Josh Windass went close from 20 yards.Davies' goal led a charmed life at the start of the second half with Reuben Reid, Olly Lee and Alessandra all going close as Plymouth went in search of a second goal.At the other end Windass again went close with a 62nd-minute shot from the edge of the penalty area.Davies did well to race off his line and deny the home side's 14-goal top scorer Reid as he broke through midway through the second half.Argyle's win meant they avenged a 1-0 defeat at Accrington on September 27.
