Grant double sends Shrews top
Bobby Grant scored twice as Shrewsbury won 2-1 at Accrington to go top of the League Two table. The Shrews, who had lost their last two games, left it late with Grant heading home the winner with just three minutes remaining.Town started well and striker James Collins raced through in the opening seconds but the Stanley defence recovered to block his strike. The opening goal had a great deal of luck about it with Grant's 11th-minute free-kick taking a huge deflection off the wall and wrong-footing goalkeeper Scott Davies.Collins volleyed wide while Connor Goldson's free-kick was not far away as the Shrews dominated the early exchanges. However, it was all-square after 38 minutes with a controversial penalty when Cameron Gayle was judged to have brought down Michael Liddle inside the area. Shrewsbury felt it was soft but Josh Windass blasted home the spot-kick.Stanley then had a great chance to go ahead on the stroke of half-time when Piero Mingoia's effort was pushed out by Jayson Leutwiler into the path of Terry Gornell but the keeper reacted quickly again to keep it level at the break. The Shrews pressed in the second half and got the winner when former Stanley winger Grant headed home Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro's cross in the 87th minute.
