FC Augsburg 4-2 Werder Bremen
Augsburg inflicted a first defeat of the season on Werder Bremen after recovering from an early deficit to win 4-2.Davie Selke gave the visitors the lead but Daniel Baier levelled soon after and Paul Verhaegh gave Augsburg the lead with a penalty just before half-time.Another penalty, converted by Franco Di Santo, brought Bremen back on terms in the 57th minute, but Tobias Werner headed in with just over 10 minutes remaining before Tim Matavz added a fourth to lift Markus Weinzierl's men into the top half of the table.Selke, who this week committed his future to the club until 2018, justified his inclusion in the starting XI, sticking out a leg to turn in Santiago Garcia's cross from close range as the Augsburg defence was caught napping. It was a first Bundesliga goal for the 19-year-old, who finished top goalscorer at the UEFA Under-19 European Championship in July.Bremen's lead did not last long, though, with Augsburg levelling only 10 minutes later.Halil Altintop lifted the ball past two defenders and in front of Baier, who swept the ball into the far corner.Bremen had a chance to level just short of the half-hour mark when Fin Bartels' shot took a deflection off Ragnar Klavan, but Marwin Hitz made an excellent save to keep the scores level.Bartels was then involved at the other end of the field when he gave away a penalty for a foul on Raul Bobadilla, who was prevented by the Bremen player from reaching a cross from the right with an open goal to aim at.Bartels could count himself somewhat lucky only to be shown a yellow card, but the real punishment for Bremen came from the right foot of Verhaegh as he converted the spot-kick.It was Bartels once again involved in the next penalty decision, this time earning one for his side when he went down inside the Augsburg area.Di Santo stepped up to the spot and drilled the ball into the roof of the net to bring Bremen back on terms. There were attacking changes on both sides with nobody settling for a point, and it was the hosts who benefited most with substitute Caiuby's shot hitting the crossbar and falling for Werner, who headed his team back in front.Matavz then sealed the win with the last kick of the game as Bremen got caught out while searching for an equaliser, allowing Werner to bear down on Raphael Wolf and square for his team-mate to tap in to the unguarded net.ends
