PAOK Salonika 1-2 Guingamp

Claudio Beauvue was the hero for Guingamp as his double secured their place in the last 32 of the Europa League in a 2-1 win against PAOK Salonika on Thursday.Beauvue got Guingamp off to the perfect start with a goal in the seventh minute when he headed in Thibault Giresse's free-kick, before Stefanos Athanasiadis equalised from the spot shortly afterwards for PAOK.However, Beauvue was again on target with seven minutes remaining to put the French side into the knockout rounds. It meant Guingamp qualfied in second place behind Serie A outfit Fiorentina, who had already confirmed their place as Group K winners before kick-off.With both Guingamp and PAOK still able to qualify as both sides started the match on seven points, there was everything to play for and Beauvue handed the French side the lead early in the match. The midfielder was in the right place and timed his run to perfection to thunder a header past PAOK goalkeeper Panagiotis Glykos with less than 10 minutes on the clock. It meant the Ligue 1 side had one foot in the last 32 of the competition, but their hopes were pegged back soon after when Athanasiadis levelled from the penalty spot.Athanasiadis's cross from the left hit the arm of Guingamp defender Lars Jacobsen in the area to gift a spot-kick to the Greek side.Striker Athanasiadis, who is PAOK's all-time European top scorer, stepped up and fired a powerful penalty straight down the middle of goal, with Jonas Lossl powerless to stop it.The sides were deadlocked at 1-1 at the break but PAOK continued to press, with Younousse Sankhare and then Athanasiadis both firing over the bar from just outside the box around the 70-minute mark.Guingamp then claimed the lead, however, in the 83rd minute when Beauvue smashed his second into the top corner after a break upfield. As the clock ticked down, PAOK were unable to create any more chances, meaning Guingamp qualified from the group as runners-up behind winners Fiorentina.ends
