Annan up and running
Annan put an end to their grim start to the season with a 2-0 win over Berwick. In a poor match lacking rhythm and intensity, the visitors carried the greater threat in the first half. Darren Lavery and Dean Hoskins missed with shots for the Borderers, and Annan goalkeeper Alex Mitchell saved further efforts from Lavery and David Gold. The match turned with two quick strikes by the Black and Golds midway through the second period. New recruit Stuart McColm converted from close range after some fine build-up play by Josh Todd.David Hopkirk was the architect of the second, crossing for Kenneth Mackay to head home. The extra cushion calmed the hosts' nerves as they happily held on for their first win of the campaign.
