Arbroath's winning run ended
Arbroath's 100 per cent start to the Scottish League Two season was ended as East Fife triumphed 2-0 at Gayfield Park.Gary Naysmith's Fifers successfully frustrated their high-flying opponents in the first half before striking twice in six second-half minutes. The visitors went in front after 51 minutes when Nathan Austin centred the ball for Allan Walker to convert from close range. The Red Lichties had barely come to terms with the blow when the visitors doubled their advantage, former Leeds United and Sunderland youngster Kevin Smith finding the top corner from long range. The hosts still had half an hour to fight their way back into the game, but a threatening Simon Murray strike, well parried by Allan Fleming, was as good as it got.
