Elgin thrashed by Queen's Park.

Basement side Elgin suffered another damaging defeat after being humbled 4-1 by high-flying Queen's Park in Scottish League Two.Elgin have not won since August and slipped to the foot of the table after East Stirling went above them with their victory over Clyde.Striker Paul Woods fired the visitors ahead when his deflected effort found the net on 24 minutes.It was two for Queen's Park just four minutes later when Shaun Rooney powered an excellent header into the bottom corner.Midfielder Darren Miller added a third from the penalty spot before the break after Elgin's Ceiran McLean brought down Sean Burns in the area.The hosts pulled one back seconds after half-time when Craig Gunn reacted quickest to hand his side a lifeline.However, forward John Carter dashed Elgin's faint hopes of a comeback just after the hour mark with a low finish underneath goalkeeper Michael Fraser after breaking through the defence.Gunn was denied a simple tap-in late on when Bryan Wharton made a terrific block with keeper William Muir on the floor as Queen's Park moved within two points of league leaders Arbroath.
