Resurgence continues for the Shire
East Stirling's recent improvement continued with a 2-0 victory against East Fife.Goals in each half from Chris Townsley and Kevin Nisbet gave The Shire a fifth win in the last seven league matches and moved Craig Tully's men to within three points of their opponents, who despite defeat still occupy the final play-off spot. The hosts went close through an excellent diving header from David Bates before Townsley nodded home David Greenhill's cross after 19 minutes.Only a superb parrying save by Allan Fleming to keep out Maxwell Wright's curling effort prevented Tulley's team from extending their lead before half-time.But less than two minutes into the second half, David McKenna set up Nisbet who bent his shot past Fleming.Steven Campbell had a chance to half East Fife's arrears almost immediately but Richie Barnard made a terrific save. The visitors hit the crossbar late on with Allan Walker's header.
