Smith double secures play-off spot
East Fife sealed their play-off place thanks to Kevin Smith's double and Jonathan Page's header in a 3-0 win at 10-man Berwick.Midfielder Smith struck either side of defender Page's second-half header, which followed soon after Berwick midfielder Paul Currie had been shown a straight red card for violent conduct.East Fife midfielder Ross Brown's early left-footed effort was brilliantly turned away at full stretch by Berwick goalkeeper Michael Andrews.Berwick responded through Blair Henderson, who headed over the crossbar, but the visitors took a 35th-minute lead when Smith fired a low angled shot into the bottom corner.Currie was sent off for lashing out at an opponent in the 63rd minute and East Fife scored a second eight minutes later when Page headed home Fraser Mullen's cross.Scott Maxwell's shot was tipped over by Fleming and Berwick defender Johnny Fairbairn headed just off target, but it was too little too late from the home side and Smith notched his second after being played in by Nathan Austin in the 83rd minute.
