Yeovil beat York to secure overdue victory
Yeovil earned a crucial 1-0 win at home to fellow strugglers York to end a 17-game wait for victory.Matt Dolan's first-half penalty proved the difference between the two teams in what proved a turgid encounter between two out of form sides.Yeovil had an early penalty appeal for handball turned down when Jack Compton's shot was blocked, but referee James Linington waved away the protests.York then created their first chance when Vadaine Oliver headed wide from close range. After a dull opening half-hour, Yeovil began to grow into the game. Josh Sheehan had a shot saved by Scott Flinders, before Francois Zoko blasted over from ten yards out.The decisive moment came in the 40th minute when Zoko turned in the box and was felled by Luke Summerfield. This time, Linington had no hesitation pointing to the spot, and Dolan had no hesitation sending Flinders the wrong way.York piled the pressure on in the closing stages as they searched for an equaliser, but Yeovil held on for a priceless victory.
