Exeter end league losing streak with draw at Morecambe

Exeter ended their four-match losing run in Sky Bet League Two as they shared the spoils with Morecambe in a 1-1 draw at the Globe Arena. The home side took the lead through a controversial penalty three minutes into the second period. Adam Dugdale's volley at the far post was adjudged to have hit the hand of an Exeter defender by referee Andy Haines hand and Shaun Miller stroked the ball past Bobby Olejnik. The visitors were level six minutes later with a quality strike from debutant loanee Jayden Stockley, as the striker volleyed Craig Woodman's left-wing cross over goalkeeper Barry Roche. Both teams then shared efforts with Olejnik moving smartly to tip away a Jamie Devitt corner and Roche at the other end producing a similar save to tip over a curling effort from Tom McCready. It was Exeter who came closest to taking the points when Stockley's looping header two minutes from time beat Roche but came back off the Shrimps' crossbar. The first half was a much quieter affair, though Andy Fleming forced Olejnik into a superb flying save with a sweetly struck volley from the edge of the area while, at the other end, Roche brilliantly tipped away Troy Brown's header following McCready's corner.
