Holmes off in Exiles loss
Newport County remain rooted to the bottom of League Two after going down 3-0 at home to York City.A first-half goal from James Berrett and two more after the break from Reece Thompson and Vadaine Oliver ensured a comfortable victory for the Minstermen.A bad-tempered game saw Danny Holmes sent off for the home side after picking up two yellow cards, the second for a late lunge on Thompson 13 minutes from the end.The visitors started on the front foot and Berrett tested Exiles goalkeeper Joe Day with a free-kick after 10 minutes.Day then had to be at his best to keep out a Keith Lowe header before Berrett put York in front after 38 minutes.Aaron Hayden gave the ball away in midfield for the home side and Berrett slotted into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.Thompson doubled York's lead 10 minutes into the second half with a glancing header from Luke Summerfield's free-kick and Oliver got a third four minutes later from close range after Day had saved Berrett's shot.
