Wycombe continue winning start

Wycombe maintained their 100 per cent start to the Sky Bet League Two season with a battling 1-0 win at Morecambe.Defender Aaron Pierre was the Chairboys' hero with a 74th-minute header to give Gareth Ainsworth's side a third successive win. He rose higher than his marker at the far post to direct a looping header over Morecambe goalkeeper Barry Roche to earn the points. It was a win that would have delighted Ainsworth, who saw his side on the back foot for long periods as Morecambe looked the livelier side and were controversially denied a first-half opener when Kevin Ellison's low drive was ruled out for offside.Matt Ingram was the busier of the two keepers with two fine stops from Lee Molyneux free-kicks and a smart block from Tom Barkhuizen's late curler, before Ryan Edwards volleyed a Molyneux corner inches wide from six yards.Morecambe debutant Shaun Miller looked lively and had a great chance to open the scoring on 17 minutes when played in on goal, only to see the chance go begging after a poor first touch.Ainsworth's men stepped up a gear in the second period with Joe Jacobson volleying wide from 30 yards and Paul Hayes testing Roche with a well-struck shot from an acute angle before Pierre's winner.
