Goalless draw leaves Colchester with unwanted record
Colchester set a new club record for league games without a victory after they played out a 0-0 draw with fellow strugglers Shrewsbury Town. The stalemate means the Us have now gone 19 league matches without winning.Ian Black went close for Shrewsbury early on, while Nathaniel Knight-Percival's attempt flew over the bar from Shaun Whalley's corner.Colchester's best chance of the first half came when Chris Porter wastefully slotted wide with only keeper Jayson Leutwiler to beat from George Moncur's pass.Colchester's Drey Wright tumbled under Black's challenge in the area but was booked for simulation soon after, while Abu Ogogo came agonisingly close to giving Shrewsbury the lead five minutes before half-time when his effort from the edge of the area rattled a post.Andrew Mangan dragged a low shot wide of the far post just before the hour after breaking clear of the Colchester defence while at the other end, Leutwiler pushed away substitute Elliot Lee's shot but the deadlock could not be broken.
