Scunthorpe extend unbeaten away run to four matches

Scunthorpe stretched their unbeaten away run to four games with a hard-earned 1-0 win away to in-form near-neighbours Doncaster. It was no more than the Iron deserved for a hard-working display against a Rovers side who produced a poor performance after some excellent recent displays.Doncaster started badly and never really looked like fighting back after the visitors had grabbed a 20th-minute lead through Paddy Madden.Sloppy defending led to the goal as a raking left-wing cross from Luke Williams evaded everyone before being tapped home by Madden at the far post. The Iron grew in confidence after taking the lead and defended superbly, while Doncaster's attacking attempts lacked conviction.Cedric Evina dribbled through on the left only to hit the side-netting and Nathan Tyson repeated the feat from the right side.Visiting goalkeeper Luke Daniels was never really tested in the first half and Evina was just wide of the mark again midway through the second half.Scunthorpe had their backs to the wall when Doncaster piled on the pressure towards the end of the game but the home side left their effort too late and were out of luck when Cameron Stewart hit the crossbar in stoppage-time.
