Brad Potts gets winner as Blackpool beat Scunthorpe

Midfielder Brad Potts' first-half goal gave struggling Blackpool their first away win for 18 months at Scunthorpe.Potts' winner came in the 35th minute when he bundled the ball home at the far post from a corner in what was the Seasiders' first threat of the match.Neil McDonald's side worked hard for their 1-0 victory against a poor home team.Scunthorpe have often found Blackpool to be tough opponents, winning only one of the last 11 meetings between the two sides. And it proved another difficult afternoon for them again as goalkeeper Colin Doyle pulled off a string of good saves in the first half to deny Kevin Van Veen, Paddy Madden, Scott Laird and Jake King. After the interval it was Blackpool who almost increased their lead when Mark Cullen took advantage of a poor back pass to burst into the box and fire in a shot which produced an excellent fingertip save from keeper Luke Daniels.Scunthorpe's stuttering start to the season continued and their hopes of salvaging something from the game disappeared in the 79th minute when a close range header from Madden was kept out by the legs of Doyle.Blackpool battled doggedly and hung on under pressure for a precious victory.
