Hamilton v Kilmarnock
Hamilton Academical 0-1 Kilmarnock
Tope Obadeyi's 69th-minute goal gave Kilmarnock a much-needed 1-0 victory at Hamilton and eased the pressure on boss Gary Locke.Killie went into the game without a win in seven matches but after a goalless first-half played in relentless rain, their fortunes changed when the Rugby Park forward bounced a shot over Accies goalkeeper Michael McGovern. It was also Kilmarnock's first win at New Douglas Park after 10 attempts as Accies, now with only one win in 10 matches, had defender Lucas Tagliapietra carried off in a stretcher after the break to compound their misery.Conditions made it difficult for both sides but Hamilton should taken the lead in the 20th minute when Dougie Imrie's perfect pass from wide on the right picked out Louis Longridge. However, the midfielder hesitated inside the box and when he eventually got his shot away after turning inside, it was blocked by Killie defender Conrad Balatoni. In the 33rd minute, Rugby Park striker Josh Magennis slipped between Antons Kurakins and Tagliapietra in the box before his low drive from a tight angle was pushed on to the post by Accies keeper and Northern Ireland team-mate McGovern and behind for a corner which came to nothing.Accies, though, had another good chance five minutes before the break and this time Imrie stalled after taking an Ali Crawford pass and although his shot beat Killie keeper Jamie MacDonald, it was cleared off the line by the head of Balatoni. In the 49th minute a Kevin McHattie cross flicked towards goal by Magennis was tipped over the bar by the alert McGovern but again Accies defended the corner.Moments later, however, after knocking a Crawford free-kick over the bar, Tagliapietra signalled his distress and after around six minutes of delay for treatment he was taken off on a stretcher, to be replaced by Jamie Sendles-White.Accies seemed to suffer some more bad luck at the loss of their goal.Magennis did well on the right-hand side of the box to stand a cross up for Obadeyi and although his shot was not cleanly struck, it went down into the artificial surface and looped over McGovern and into the net.Accies stormed back and from an Imrie free-kick, MacDonald saved smartly from Crawford's close-range header but at the other end McGovern brilliantly denied Killie midfielder Greg Kiltie. In seven frantic minutes of added time, Hamilton defender Ziggy Gordon had a header blocked by sheer numbers inside the Kilmarnock six-yard box before the visitors eventually saw the game out, the home fans booing their side off in frustration.ends
