Alex Rae begins life at St Mirren with win as Jack Ross loses first Alloa game
Alex Rae won the battle of the new bosses as his St Mirren side ran out 2-0 winners at Jack Ross' Alloa in the Ladbrokes Championship.Rae was named Buddies manager on Friday while former St Mirren defender Ross was appointed in midweek, but it was the visitors who came out on top.St Mirren took the lead on 12 minutes when Lawrence Shankland chipped Andrew McNeil. The Paisley outfit could have doubled their lead moments later but Calum Gallagher blazed an effort over the top.Gallagher then fired another good chance wide of the post while David Crawford missed the best of Alloa's first-half chances.Gallagher eventually grabbed his goal just before the hour mark when Shankland turned provider to tee him up with an easy close-range finish.
