Linton spot on for Clyde
Scott Linton's penalty helped Clyde to a 1-0 win over 10-man Stirling Albion on the opening day of the Ladbrokes Scottish League Two season. Barry Ferguson's men nearly took the lead after 23 minutes, with Michael Bolochoweckyj rising brilliantly to win a header but he failed to hit the target from six yards. Stirling's Craig Comrie and Jon-Paul McGovern missed with speculative efforts before Hugh Murray failed to fire Clyde into an early second-half lead, as his shot lacked power and accuracy. Scott McLaughlin squandered another chance for the visiting side when he fired over and the hosts were reduced to 10 men after Mark Staunton's clumsy challenge inside the penalty box.Linton stepped up to fire the resulting penalty past Stirling keeper Chris Smith. Alex Cunningham, Willie Robertson and Ross McGeachie missed further chances for Stirling as the Binos started the season with a defeat.
