Late double gives Schalke win over Eintracht Frankfurt
Schalke moved up to third in the Bundesliga on Wednesday night with two late goals earning them a 2-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt.
After a wasteful first half, it looked like Schalke were going to pay the price when Frankfurt came at them in the second 45 minutes.
They too failed to take their chances, however, and Joel Matip headed the hosts in front with 15 minutes remaining.
Alexander Meier went close to equalising with Matip clearing off the line before Leroy Sane sealed Schalke's victory with a fine individual effort in stoppage-time.
The win lifts the Gelsenkirchen club above Wolfsburg into third place, three points adrift of local rivals Borussia Dortmund.
