Adelaide benefit as Melbourne Victory and Brisbane Roar held scoreless

Adelaide United became the A-League minor premiers on Saturday when the Brisbane Roar and Melbourne Victory played to a scoreless draw.

Adelaide moved into first place with a 2-0 win on Friday over Melbourne City, and the Roar needed a win to overtake Adelaide for first place on the final weekend of the regular season.

But the Roar ran into a hot Victory goalkeeper, Lawrence Thomas, who stopped several good chances from the Brisbane side in the 0-0 draw.

The result left Adelaide one point ahead of Brisbane with the Western Sydney Wanderers four points behind and City five.

Perth and the Victory round out the top six playoff positions.

On Sunday, Western Sydney plays Wellington and Sydney FC hosts Perth, with the results of those matches affecting the playoff lineup.
