Adelaide United's unbeaten run continued as they drew 2-2 with Sydney FC in the A-League.

United rested a number of regular starters with half an eye on Tuesday's Asian Champions League fixture against Shandong Luneng, but the changes did not seem to hamper the home side and they took the lead after just two minutes.

There was a touch of fortune about the goal, with a clearance cannoning back off the shins of Sergio Cirio to flash past the goalkeeper, but it was a deserved lead for the division's form side.

Sydney equalised through Matt Simon in the 37th minute, but a second goal from Adelaide striker Cirio as half-time approached seemed to have put them 2-1 up at the break.

However, Sydney came from behind for the second time to equalise through Filip Holosko deep in first-half stoppage time.

Both teams wasted good chances to win the game in an evenly matched second half, but the 11,786 Adelaide crowd seemed pleased enough with the point.
